vps

A VPS service (VDS) on a selected server will be a good solution for an online store, will serve as a platform for software development and scaling, or function as a game server. It is also suitable for corporate clients who want to use a physical server to store large databases. A dedicated VPS is a server fully available to a single customer. All resources are allocated exclusively to your project, with no need to share them with other clients. In addition, you can install and configure any software you require.

VDS (Virtual Dedicated Server) or VPS (Virtual Private Server) is a virtual server service that provides the customer with maximum usage rights. A VPS or VDS emulates the operation of a real physical server—the customer has root access and can install any desired operating system and software. Typically, several independent virtual servers are hosted on a single physical server.

What is the difference between VPS and VDS servers?

There is no difference between them. Virtual Private Server and Virtual Dedicated Server are different terms that carry the same meaning and perform the same function.

Operating principle and features of a virtual server

In terms of operating principles and functional characteristics, a virtual server differs very little from a physical server. It has no limitations related to hosting websites, databases, domains, SSH, FTP, or email users. The administrator has full control over these parameters. Any software can be installed, modified, or replaced just as on a real physical server. Each virtual server hosted on our infrastructure has its own IP address, which is assigned exclusively to that server. Additional IP addresses can be ordered if needed.

A virtual server is completely independent from other servers hosted on the same physical machine. This means that any failure occurring on “neighboring” servers has no impact on the running server.

Comparison of VPS/VDS with web hosting (shared)

Advantages of a virtual server compared to web hosting:

  • Full control: Owners of a virtual server have root (for UNIX) or Administrator (for Windows) privileges and can install any software and operating system according to the specific requirements of their project. Server configuration depends entirely on the administrator.
  • Minimal limitations: Websites, databases, domains, SSH, FTP, and email users are limited only by the server’s own resources.
  • Independence: Other virtual servers hosted on the same physical machine—“neighbors”—are isolated from each other and do not consume each other’s resources during operation. Unlike shared hosting, they also have their own dedicated IP address.

Disadvantages of a virtual server compared to web hosting:

  • Price: The cost of a virtual server is usually higher than that of shared hosting. However, we strive to minimize this difference as much as possible.
  • Administrative requirements: Managing a virtual server is similar to administering a physical server. Therefore, users need to have certain knowledge and skills in server administration. However, to overcome this barrier, control panels are available, which handle typical tasks effectively.
